Bed Runner

I had a heaps of Batik bits left over, so when I saw this pattern I just had to try it, it is going to be a runner for the back of a bed, next will be a small black border, and then........not sure yet, I will work it out as I go. Nothing like working it out when I get there, I very rarely use a pattern now a days.

Todays happenings

Our wood shed is full, don't have to worry about winter now, it is that full that the chopping block is outside the door. Jade our youngest poodle is standing guard.

Not much happening

It has been one of those weeks, I have had no inspiration at all in the actual sewing feild, I have however been "playing" with my EQ7 and come up with a few potentials. The first two are for my neice, I havent got the right shades for them yet and the centre will be slightly different, she wants purple. The two bottom ones I am going to try (one day) to make.

Two Dollars worth of quilt

Last year while browsing at Vinnies I found some blue fabric all bits and also some bright yellow, it cost me $2 altogether, so after a little figuring I made it into a quilt. This is for my Poodles, they love getting under something warm at night, and I really don't like sharing with them, so now they have their own.

That is four of the quilts done, I have one more small one and then I will have to extend the frame or get very innovative

New Shop

There is a lovely new shop opened. All sorts of wonderful Fabric. Check it out here It is called Raggedy Station

Medallion Round Robin for 2010

I have finally finished my medallion for last year, all it needs now is the label sewn on (when I find it). It turned out really lovely, it is a little darker in real life.

I am on a roll

Another quilt finished. This one is from the Charm Square swap from my craft forum. I added a few other blocks because I wanted to make my quilt a little bigger, I has turned out just big enought for a table cloth or a lap quilt.

Notice Board

Yesterday and today I have been working on making a notice board. While I have been cleaning up and getting rid of stuff, and I am by no means done, I found this old frame that I had been saving to put something in, well it is finally used. I did make this for my daughter, but she tells me it is too big for her space, so it is now mine. I found a block I liked "Schoerock Cross" fiddled with it a bit and here it is.

Carpenter's Square

I have already posted a photo of this in the making, here it is complete.

I saw this block on someones Blog, and I can't find where it was now, ( so I apologise profusely to the lovely lady who helped me make it) Anyhow it is done now and quilted. I did have a little trouble with it because I had to make two of the blocks different to the other two so that all the lines matched up, but it all worked well in the end. I am very happy with it, and it is the size for a bassinet or a cot quilt.

My Three Seam quilt

Remember that 3 seam block, well it has become bigger, I used a charm pack to do the centre and went on from there. I can't remember the name of the charm pack, and there is no more of it, so now I will have to find something else to go with the centre. The top photo is what I have so far, the other is a print from EQ7 of how I want it to look when it is done. I have the dark brown fabric and the lighter one picked out, but nothing for the outer border just yet. It is just sort of falling together when I get to the next bit.

I did Something Wrong.

I have no idea what I did, but I seem to have lost all the posts I got from other bloggers, I used to come in and read them, and they have all disappeared. Guess I will have to do it all over again.

March BOM's

I now have three BOM's going, this is the first one to get finished this month, it is from the EQ website if you would like to try it you can find it here

Batiks

I bought a whole heap of batiks to make and Amish quilt, and here it is, the colours are a bit brighter than they really are, the photo was taken on a really bright day.

The reason for this quilt is that my friend Cheryl and I do something the same each year, Cheryl in her colours, me in mine. This year it was and Amish pattern. This was supposed to take a little longer than two months, but I just could not stop after I started. So now we have to find something else to do for the next ten months.

Those three seams again

I really had to make something out of those three seam blocks, so here is the start, the brown centres were the original blocks, the cream centres are where I joined them up.

I had a little chat with my fellow quilter here where I live (wave to Mary) and I think I have now come up with what will be next. I am going to do a little unsewing and then add a brown border.

The little squares are bias and they have to be sewn down a little round the edge so they look like cathedral windows.

A Cushion Cover

I made a cushion cover out of my three seam block, added a couple of borders to make it a little bigger, made the back out of another three seam block and hey presto a new cushion cover. I took it too the front veranda to take a photo or two and had two poodle come to see what I was doing.

Hello to my new neice

My Niece had a baby girl on the 6th of February, and today I got the official introduction, A lovely postcard with her name, date of birth and her parents names. On the envelope it came in are two stamps, one with a picture of her on it. I wanted to share this, I have never seen anything like it before, and thought it was so cute.

Monday, February 14, 2011

I have been doing a few BOM off internet sites, and here they are, both blocks are the January ones, The first one is off the EQ blog site and the other is from Angie's bits and pieces.

Nothing to do with fabric

I am not sure what to call this position but this is how my son plays the computer, Madison the poodle is helping.
