A Cushion Cover

I found a pattern on the net on doing flying geese in a circle, click here, I really wanted to try it, and I had heaps of black so that became the background, I used scraps (again) as the geese themselves. When it was finished I decided I had to make something out of it, so after digging a bit I found more scraps of the same fabric and got just enough to make the border and the prairie points.

I am happy with it, I used a pale blue heavier than normal thread (sorry no idea what it was there was no label and I have had it forever) as the quilting thread and went 1/4 inch off the ditch.

I really like the pattern, but it is a lot of fiddling and there is a lot of wastage.

2011

I am going to try and write down everything I make this year, so I thought I better get started with what has happened so far.
Yesterday I finished a show quilt for Craft Quarters, I still need to stitch down the backing, but that is handwork, I will put up a photo when I am done.
Today I made a skirt from a moda pattern. I am pretty pleased with it. Love how the colours compliment each other. This is for my oldest Grand daughter Olivia for her birthday, now I just have to wrap it and post it.

Snug seat

A lovely lady, Terri, on my craft forum kindly sent me the pattern for a Snug seat, I have made two for the twins. I did not have a baby to try it with so I just used a pillow. If anyone would like one of these just contact me via this blog, and I will give you Terri's email address, she makes these seat on order.

Knitting

Just lately I have been knitting, I have made a few pairs of slippers, and a scarf, easy, so I decided I would attempt a pair of socks. So I found myself a pattern for a lovely simple pair of socks. My printer is totally out of ink so I had wrote it out, went for the knitting needles and this is what happen. There was such a mess of needles that I did not know where to start, so I found a lovely pattern for a knitting needle case, only took a couple of hours from deciding to make it to finishing it.

I have been asked for the site where I got the needle case instructions, click here, and scroll down to September 7, 2007 and the Knitting Needle Case Tutorial. I actually made mine bigger, I used the full length of a fat quarter.

Spinning Wheel

Look what I inherited yesterday, my mum does not want it any more so she told me to sell it. I am not into spinning, so atm it is sitting on my desk looking down at me while I type. I put it outside on the concrete to take a photo and Ollie had to come and check it out, he sniffed every side of it. Mum has had this wheel since 1985, It was made for her by a local craftsman.

Fabric

Last week I was looking for a piece of fabric, and I knew it was there somewhere but I just could not find it, (it was in a safe place). So.......... I decided that my fat quarters needed sorting, and here is the result, I ended up buying a new plastic box to put them in, it is about half an inch too big to fit properly on the top of my tea trolley. I have decide that it would not be a good idea to count them, because then I might have to work out how much I spent.

And the quilts continue, I have so many that I want to do that by the time I finish one, the next one is already half done, so far I have not mixed up any bits ( crossed the fingers here. This is a little case I made to carry the work in progress around in. It is also the first time I tried hand quilting. I am not convinced it is for me
