Another one

This was made for my youngest Grandy who is now already 9 months old, again it was printed and I went around the animals.

A quilt for a friend

Made with recycled jeans, it started out as something else, what that was now I do not remember.

It has been a while......

Life goes on, I have lost the ability to create, it has just disappeared, occasionally I get a little glimpse, especially when I am away from my stuff, but when I am back to the machine, it has disappeared again.
I did manage to do a book for a new grandson, and a little quilt for another new grandson.

The Book

This was preprinted and just required me to make it up, I spent ages sewing around all the pictures, it turned into a very sturdy washable book.

January 2013

It has been positively ages since I posted and I really have no idea what I have made in the last three months. So these photos are what I could find.
I made the balloon dress for my oldest Granddaughter for her 6th Birthday, which was yesterday, so no photo of that yet,
The Red and White Just take 2 centre is done, I am not sure whether it will get a border yet, it is already pretty big.
And the little bag at the bottom was for my son who likes to throw all his change in a big plastic jug, He has gone travelling and I thought the little bag would work for the change.

Quilt Inspiration

As I mentioned in my last post my Mojo has gone, so of course if I saw something that might bring it back, off I went to check it out, well just check out this site.

If the picture does not work try here
I have saved it to my favourites.
My mojo did appear a few days ago, I just had to make a bag, I am still working on getting it quite right, but here is the result. I had cane round handles that were where the whole idea stemmed from, but they just did not go with the black and white.

A Bag for Alice

I had a  request order from my Mother in law to make a bag for her friend for Christmas, It is done, twice. The first time I made the handles the size the pattern said and that was too short according to the boss. So unpicked it all and redid them and made them heaps longer (6") I added pockets two on the outside and one inside, plus a tab to hang the car keys off (top of bag on the left).

I discovered it hurts a lot when one sticks a brand new unpicker in their thumb. Ouch.

What arrived at my house while I was away.

While I was away at my Daughters house a big parcel arrived in the mail, and when I finally opened it this is what I found.

It is beautiful, exquisite, and so much work has gone into it. All the lovely ladies on my Craft Forum "conspired" and made if for me. So far I have cried everytime I type about it. But I want to say thank you again.

All in my favourite colour of blue too!!

Where has my Mojo gone

There is nix, nothing, zilch happening here, I just dont want to. My MIL wants me to make a bag for her friend for Christmas, I have the fabric the pattern and all the other instructions for doing it her way, but I just can't be bothered.

I have just spent a lovely week with my eldest daughter and her family, enjoyed shopping , looked at heaps of stuff, but absolutely nothing jumped out at me and became the start of something new.

My sewing machine is buried under heaps of stuff, so all that needs tidying as well.

It is not just the sewing that is gone, housework, is by the way, and I bought a new bit of furniture and it is just sitting where it go put after it came out of the car, no mojo there either.

Before the MOJO left I did make a small lap quilt for Arbee Designs.
I do the occasional pattern testing for them.

Here it is, It is called 'Star Struck Hearts', it is now in the huge pile of stuff that needs quilting. Again no Mojo.

A Project of a Different sort.

A few weeks ago I saw this on our local buy and sell and I just could not resist.

I have started, as you can see there is a drawer missing, I have gotten all the paint off that, it looks great.

A few years ago I did a similar one.

There it is behind all my mess on the sewing table. I do have a better photo somewhere (just not sure where I filed it)
Anyhow the new one will look just as good. I am not sure what I will do with it once it is done, but I will worry about that then.

A FEW PICS FROM WHEN I WAS AWAY

The cruise boat that Cheryl and I went on in Bundaberg

The tree in the back is not a multitude of trees it is just one, it is huge!

Donna and I at the railway station, after I spent the night with her.

Cheryl, me and Donna, (left to right) at Donn's favourite fabric shop in Brisbane, where all the prices are below $10 a metre.  Lovely shop, and lovely staff, now if I could just remember what it was called.

And last but not least my flowers that were not there when I left to go to Qld.

Oh Dear, I am just not good at keeping this up to date

This is where I have been, Hervey Bay Qld. I spent a beautiful week with my friend and we visited here, we walked all the way out on this 'wharf' (not sure what is its correct name) overall we walked about 6 klms that afternoon.

A couple more done

I really am not doing these at an amazing rate, they have been "Mostly" done for a while, just finishing them off.

This is one of my supervisors, obviously asleep on the job, the block is 9 1/2 inches so you can see how big Ollie is.

My first ever usable quilt.

I just found a photo I took of my first usable quilt.
This  is now a rag, but I have it on an old lounge and the youngest poodle thinks it is a fine place to chew here bones so it need a wash (fell apart a bit more with that).
Here is a photo of it slung across the clothes line, it was too heavy to hang properly, so I let it dry a bit first and then rearranged it.
It was made out of used (second hand) fleecy fabric, I put the fleecy part on the outside. double sided and fitted our queen size bed. It kept us warm for many years. There was no quilting, just two sides sewn together, lol this was before I knew what quilting actually was though, this was to keep warm.

Eeeek

I just realized that I haven't been in here for ages, so much has happened in the last few months, my Mum passed away after a few years with dementia, a release for her, and my husband also passed away after being bedridden with Multiple Sclerosis for a lot of years, also a release for him, but a terrible shock for the rest of us.

I am not writing this to get sympathy, just so that "I" know in future what was happening, I do this blog so I can keep track of what I am up to, and also to show my on line friends.

So on that note I will just put up lots of photos of what I have been doing, sewing was a reprieve in the middle of everything else.

 A red and white block.

A bag which I found in bits in an op shop, all the pattern and pieces where there, just had to be put together.

Another red and white block, this one was supposed to be a boat, but I don't want boats on my quilt so I made a patched heart instead.

This will be a table runner, it may still get a little larger, still thinking on that, it is made from strips that are then cut to make the shapes, unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it being  shown. I think it was a u-tube.

 My latest stripy quilt.
 My newest friend.

More red and white

A book for Penny that can't get ripped up.

And the lone star that took a long time to talk myself into trying, and after all the talking was not that hard to do.

Now there is sure to be more that I have not put up, but it will wait, today I am doing yet more red and white blocks from the Just take 2 BOM.

And the latest on the Just Takes 2

This is not a block from the Just Takes 2 BOM, this is one that I made to replace one that I just did not like.
The second quarter of the quilt is now put together, for those that are also making this, it is my style, any blocks that I don't like I am removing and replacing with something else.
I also goofed badly with the big one bottom right of number two photo, I made it the wrong size, so it is now on point with a teeny border round it. The reason it got to be the wrong size, is totally my own fault, I am transferring (drawing) the patterns into EQ and using the rotary cutting instructions in there. I got the size wrong, but Hey it is my quilt, and it will be different to all the others.

This is what the second quarter looks like, there are also a few blocks left over which I thought was sort of strange.

I do not like the way everything is paper pieced, and the huge wastage of fabric.

This is the way it is supposed to look. Notice that the aeroplanes did not make it into mine either.

More red and white

I love to play with EQ,  I found the top block on the Patchwork times blog, Where Judy Laquidara is making  Nicole's Sofa quilt. I loved the symmetry of the block so had to have a play with it. I added  the second block, I had to draw that one myself, and this is what I came up with. At the moment I am so in love with red and white.

Sunset Sails

I forgot about this one, A wall hanging called Sunset Sails

Been a while

I just realised that I had not been in here for ages
so I will just put in photos of stuff I have been making

Some of the BOM blocks that have been created

 A reversible bag

 Ocean Party

Four Sentimental Journey blocks, and yes the last two are not meant to be finished yet, but I was on a roll, and it has been hanging around too long.
And lastly my beautiful grand daughter, unfortunately she is the only one of the four girls I get to see regularly, she is becoming a real little person, and a show off for the camera
