Sentimental Journey

Here are the first three blocks of the Sentimental Journey.

My Jewel quilt

I have come to a stand still, I have run out of black, and have only a small bit of the coloured fabric left, so for the time being my Jewel quilt is hanging on my curtains, I look at it each time I come past, and it still has not come to me what might be next.
I was going to put four borders on, one bright ( a solid colour) and then black and then the original fabric that I used plus another black. The only problem with that is that there is just not enough fabric left. My daughter thinks I should make diamonds all the way round, but I am not convinced. We will see.

Kaleidoscope

My daughter sent me this picture today and I just had to share it. She made it on her mobile phone. There is no way I could cut this one up.

I just had to put this up straight away

It is turning out beautifully, three rows together and I have to show it off, this is the centre of the quilt, it will be over 6 foot square when I am done. I am just taking the blocks as they come, all my previous ones I have picked and moved and then moved again, this time it is come as they are.

Continuing on

4 of these
8 of these
4 of these

32 blocks like this with three coloured bits.

12 blocks like this

So I made 13 blocks like this and there are also four plain black ones. This is a total of 81 blocks, I now have to add the little triangles to four sides of each block, some will get coloured ones and some will be black. I am working on one row of blocks at a time, starting with the middle.

What's happening at my place

A few weeks ago I was going through my stash looking for something, I did not find it, instead I found this.

I remember buying it ages ago, there was about 5 metres in the piece.

So, as I had found it again I took a photo of it and had a play in EQ7.

T

This is what I came up with, The white section is the coloured bit and the dark is the black.

Sentimental Journey

I have also made the next block for Sentimental Journey, but as you can see it became two blocks, I made the big one, then realised it was supposed to be smaller. I goofed!!!!!!!

So now the big one will become a cushion cover to go with the quilt.

It is a long time since I posted

I haven't been totally idle, I just haven't been posting, somehow it all seemed to hard to bother. Anyway, here are a few tops that I have completed.

The black one is going to bed double sided, I have the coloured squares all sewn together and I ran out of black, as I am that far from Spotties, it has to wait for another day.

And this one is for a raffle for my Grandchildrens dance studio.

Both have to wait till I get my frame out again to be quilted. At the moment my frame lives under my bed.

Vicki from

The Pickledish Patch has a great give away, you can win your very own copy of EQ7. This is a wonderful program so that you can design your own quilts. If you click on the little picture it will take you to Vicki's blog. Good Luck.

Syverkstan Quilts

I have also been making a cat quilt, the pattern is from Syverkstan Quilts Here is Cat number 7, (its the only one that is nearly done, still needs eyes and nose) This is going to be a raffle quilt for my Son.

Sentimental Journey

A few months ago Cheryl and I decided to do another quilt BOM, we chatted Vicki and now it is happening on our forum, A few other lovely ladies have joined in as well. I drew mine up in EQ7 so that I could play with the colours, the first picture is a photo of the finished block, if you look closely you will notice that I mixed up the colours from what it was supposed to be with my EQ mock-up, but it turned out OK.

Nappy bag

My new Grand daughter needed a nappy bag, so I got to work, I sewed, unpicked, changed my mind, sewed unpicked and changed my mind again.

I was thinking on calling this bag my "Changed my mind Bag" because it happened so often.

Instead it is Penny's Bag.

It has a total of sixteen pockets, because Penny's mum wanted lots of them.

The outside was two fat quarters (the pinks) cut into three inch strips and the Green to give it a bit of zing.

I then cut six inches off the bottom and made that into the outside pockets.

The inside lining is the pale green check, wit the pink stripe being the base and internal pockets, I made the inside pockets a little big so lots of "stuff" would fit inside them, then put elastic in the top for a little gather.

As I said previously, an awful lot of mind changing.

18th August 2011

Today my newest Grand daughter made her entrance into the world, Penelope Marie weighed in at 7 1/2 pounds. Toni-Marie and Mark did a good job I think

Woohoo

This afternoon my oldest daughter gave birth to Penelope Marie, I have been busy sewing in preparation for her arrival. At the moment I am attempting to make a nappy bag for her, I am making it up as I go, doesnt look too bad (yet)

Here is the cot quilt I made, I will now have to make the label for it, now that I have a name to put on it.

I am so excited

I have finally won something, which is a real rarity with me, only happens once in a blue moon or so.
But what is even more exciting is that I have won two things in the last few days. A DVD from Disney, from Samelia's Mum's blog and from Gabi at Bee-Inspired a lovely little hand made Sewing Kit.

Woohooo, if I knew how to put a little person dancing on here I would.

Thanks so much to both of you, The DVD will go to my Grandson who will soon have a little sister and the Sewing Kit, well it is going to be MINE.

Baby Stuff

I am soo pleased how this turned out, I was a little bit worried that I would not get the face looking as nice as it should, but the little bear has turned out so cute. I hand appliqued the bear and her pillow, and just quilted very close to the edge of it, the outside squares all have a "z" through them, thought it fitted with the sleeping.

This is for my new granddaughter. (When she arrives that is)

A Cushion Cover

I found a pattern on the net on doing flying geese in a circle, click here, I really wanted to try it, and I had heaps of black so that became the background, I used scraps (again) as the geese themselves. When it was finished I decided I had to make something out of it, so after digging a bit I found more scraps of the same fabric and got just enough to make the border and the prairie points.

I am happy with it, I used a pale blue heavier than normal thread (sorry no idea what it was there was no label and I have had it forever) as the quilting thread and went 1/4 inch off the ditch.

I really like the pattern, but it is a lot of fiddling and there is a lot of wastage.

Another Baby quilt

I have finished the pink scrap floor quilt for my new arrival, only thing left to do is put a name on.

Here is the back of it. All done in little bits of left over flannellette

And here is the front, the colours are not true in the photo, the outside border is done in purples and yellows and the corner stones ar red.
