Samuels Birthday

My Grandson Samuel had his 4th birthday on the 12th of January, here is his cake that his mum made, Samuel washed the cars so they could go on the cake.

Medallion Round Robin 2009

This is my centre for the round robin that I am in from the craft forum. I can hardly wait for it to come back to me.

My Granddaughter Olivia

I had to add this, I made a little jumpsuit for my Granddaughter Olivia for her second birthday, I did not want to put up a picture until after her birthday.
Olivia and her mum loved it.
I found the fabric in Spotlight in the $1 bin, it wasnt cotton, but I just love blues and it was very nearly a metre. Just had to have it. Then my brother in laws girlfriend gave me heaps of patterns for little peoples clothes, and that was that.

My work space

This is my workspace, Horn cabinet, machine (Janome Quilters Companion) and my swivel chair, one spin and I am on the computer directly behind me.

The ironing board near the window and I hang/pin partly completed projects on the curtains so that they can "talk" to me. I did make myself up a board to use as a design wall, but I had nowhere to put it, so it now lives in the shed.

And here is my cutting table which at the moment occupies my daughters room while she is away.

Fabric Swap Quit

At the begining of 2008 I joined in a fabric swap, it was 3 inch strips, I added to what I got and designed a block on my EQ6 and this is the outcome. It is going to make it's home in Tasmania with my son and his wife. I am very happy with how this turned out.

Konrad's Big Boy Quilt

I have had the occasion to go into my stash, (OK I was looking for something and couldn't find it) and found a basket full of quilt tops that needed quilting, there was four, I finished one.
This one I started earlier in the year for my youngest grandson Konrad for his first birthday, I was just a little late with it, he got it for Christmas.
My Big Brother wanted it for himself, he is into VW's

Jade the black poodle pup

One of our Puppies named jade is going to our niece, so I thought that I would make a little doggie blanket up for her, this is the result.

My neice was very impressed that her puppy had her own quilt. I machine sewed the whole thing, even the binding so that it could just go in the wahsing machine when dirty.

Poodles everywhere

On the last day of September this year my poodle Madison presented us with four little bundles.

Three weeks later Millie added to the gang.

So now we have nine dogs in the family.

Today being a new year we only have one little pup left, He will leave for Tasmania soon.

The Start of Konrad's Big Boy Quilt

One of a heap of little cars that I have made for my youngest grandsons big boy quilt, the top is all done and I am looking for just the right fabric for the back, it has not popped out at me yet.
This pattern comes from Fat Cat Patterns. Its a great site.
The fabric that I used for the window I dyed myself using and ink product that you set in the microwave

Acorn Gathers Swap

This one was for the acorn gathers swap, I have been saving this pattern along witha heap of similar ones for one day in the future.

Stitchery and applique Swap

Some of the 12inch swap squares that I made. I really love the red and white one.

Two recent swaps, the dahlia block and the pot holders, the little one is to go over the handle of a saucepan.

Bags Galore

My endevour to make bags for everyone resulted in all sorts of styles and colours.

The Big and little red ones went to my Daughter in law and my granddaughter for Christmas

My Neighbour got the purple and pink

I have really gotten into the bag making recently, I have made nine so far, and I am planning on a few more. There are only two patterns here, the 1 hour bag and the bag made out of 12 sqares and four triangles.

Doily Cushion

I have been experimenting with doilies, a TV show a while back was the inspiration for this one. An old doiley purchased at Vinnies, well washed and iron, then I marked two diagonal lines on the doiley and zigzagged either side of that, then rotary cut into four. I was quite impressed with it.

Row by Row Round Robin

Last year in March I joined the forum at Craft Magazine, I have joined in a lot of swaps on this forum and thoroughly love doing them. The latest one is a row by row round robin, the first row being made by the eventual owner of the rows (quilt).

I was very good I actually took some photos along the way. I found a celtic pattern that I really liked on my EQ6, but it was for appliquing, and I wanted to peice it instead, so I redrew the pattern and this is the outcome.

Mum's Birthday

My Mother celebrated her 84th Birthday this week, and this was my contribution, I thought it was fitting, my mum came to Australia in the early 1950's and settled here, she loves Australia.

The quilt is from Australian country threads Vol 4 No's 9 and 10, and is called "Home among the Gum Trees"

Tassie Trip

In 2007 I went to visit my son and his new family in Tasmania, the Paisley fabric in the quilt was picked up there, so in all this one took just over 12 months to complete, I must admit though that it probably took 9 months to get around to the quilting. It is only quilted in the ditch. I have put polar fleece on the back, so it is only a two layer quilt.

Colourful Bear No. 2

Colourful Bear number two, my very first attempt at bear making. Colourful number one was my youngest son's best bear for a lot of years.

Olivia's Floor Cushion

This is what Olivia was testing. It was supposed to be a small cushion, when I printed out the pattern from the computer somehow it bacame very large. Must have been meant to happpen.

Olivia loves it.
