Experimenting

I was experimenting with a block, so I just used what came out of the stash. So it was not wasted I made it into a pilow case for my sons big pillow that he has on his bed

The two black objects to the top left are Millie and Jade, I can't get the camera out without a poodle or two turning up.

Doing nothing much.

This morning I am cooking Tomato sauce, the house smells devine, I am getting hungry with the smell.
I am also tracing flowers for one of my unfinished projects and while I do that I am looking at blogs.

I found this lovely give-away onVintage Sandy's blog, go have a look.

a bit of a challenge

Cheryl from Chegres Confabs and I are challenging ourselves to do and finish a row by row quilt from Claudia's Quilt shop.
It is a free block/row of the month. Now this is not hard, the hard part is we will not buy any new fabric for this, it all has to come out of the stash. So far so good.

A Nice Feeling.

Today is my neighbours Birthday, and he is such a kind good neighbour, the type everyone wants. (I am so lucky) As some of you may know my husband has MS, and is pretty much bedridden, so anything that needs doing is up to me or my son. So when there is something that we cannot handle on our own, my neighbour comes and gives a hand. I could tell you to handfuls of things that he has helped me with, for no payment what so ever. So today I thought I will give him one of my quilts. He was so happy with it, and I am happy it has found a home. It has also gained a name, "Brian's Quilt"

Toni's Christmas pressie for 2009.

Scottie the dog.

I ran out of vliesofix so had nothing to do while watching TV. (it was awful) So I decided as I have two granchildren with Birthdays this month to make them each a dooggy, Olivia loves hers, she thinks its a horsey though. Samuel got a denim one. If you like him I found him here

The UFO

For Months now I have had a nine patch hanging on the curtains near my machine, waiting for inspiration to hit. The last photo is what it originally looked like, followed by what it became. somehow I got the photos in in the reverse order.
It is going to be a doona cover, I will put some thin on the back, probably sheeting, quilt it and then add another backing to make it into a doona cover, It WILL fit my bed

Around the place

As some of you might know my youngest Daughter is in the States atm. It was her birthday on the 18th, and as she does not need more stuff to bring home she did not really get much of a pressie from us here in Australia. I rang her and spoke for a bit and then we were on MSN "talking" for quite a while. Just to remind her of what she is missing here we went round the house with the camera. I think she got a little homesick, where she is it is snowing. This is what it looked like here.

Stitchers Angel Swap

I got a present or two in the mail yesterday, from my partner in the "Stitchers Angel Swap" I want to thank Isi very much, it is all lovely

Table runner

My Mother-in-Law asked me to make another Christmas table runner for her to give as a gift for Christmas, this is the out come, I am quite pleased with it, it sort of evolved as it went along, no pattern, and the only thing that I planned on it was that it would be three squares, with applique on it. Guess it worked.

Having a Ball

I found a site on the internet for an Amish puzzle ball, and just had to have a go, I think I over stuffed it, but it works well.

Friends

Earlier this year I started a quilt from Homespun Magazine, I really loved the first block, but as I went along I realised that there were just too many facial features in it for me, I can never seem to get them to actually look like they are real. So I gave up (naughty I know) But rather than have what I had already done sit in the corner for ever I decided to put it together, this is the outcome, I have called it "Friends" I am fairly happy with it and it will go to my best Friend from my school days.

Foot stool

Default

In bed Friday night I had this beaut idea that just would not go away. A few weeks ago, I took my DMIL shopping and what she was looking for was a poufe, pronounced with an "a" on the end not like the girl in the shop said "poof". Anyway we could not find one at all, and now with her two broken legs she probably needs it more than ever. So this is what I made, I must admit I already had some of the CQ done. It works.
I have filled it with bean bag beans, it is light weight but still solid enough to support feet and legs.

Practicing

I am not sure if it is noticeable in the photo or not, but I have been practicing with the quilting, if you look very carefully I have signed this

They are all done!

Since my quilting frame took up residence here I have been trying to get all those tops done. Well they are, finished the last one just now. The one on the left is the latest Stack n wack, I think this one turned out really well, it was a lot of fiddling and counting to get the circles to line up where I wanted them to go.
The right one is call "Celebrate the Harvest" and was a project in Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

About Me
