Splendid Hues

Last night I finally got all the way round the quilt I have been working on since Christmas, it went together really well, grew extra quick, and then I got to the mitred corners. Well I dont think I will go into that, but let me just say that they are not as easy as I thought. Hand sewing the binding down took ages, mainly because the back itself is sewn to the prairie points and it is fiddly. Anyway here it is.

I forgot to add that this is a kit available thru Craft Quarters The fabric range is from Willmington prints and the pattern is a free one that comes with the fabric, this quilt is the lap size finished about 73" by 73". There is also a queen size on the pattern sheet.

whats new

Gosh a few days in and already I am not doing well. Let me see........
Tuesday I did no sewing at all, just lots of procastinating. I did buy some new fabric, Batiks.

My friend Cheryl and I are doing an Amish quilt this year and I decided that the batiks were the way to go.





Wednesday I spent ages drawing up leaves for a new baby quilt that is in the works (no photo) and today so far I am cutting out those leaves.

So far so good

Today is the 3rd of January, and I am still managing to produce something, I have made my blocks for the BOM from Our Craft Forum. I nearly didn't make it as I had problems with the second one printing out the wrong size for the paper piecing

2011

I am going to try and write down everything I make this year, so I thought I better get started with what has happened so far.
Yesterday I finished a show quilt for Craft Quarters, I still need to stitch down the backing, but that is handwork, I will put up a photo when I am done.
Today I made a skirt from a moda pattern. I am pretty pleased with it. Love how the colours compliment each other. This is for my oldest Grand daughter Olivia for her birthday, now I just have to wrap it and post it.

Library Bag

My Grandson Samuel starts big school next year, and he wanted a library bag with a cat on it, when asked what colour cat, he wanted all colours, so this is what I came up with.

More Bags

The last photo is the bag I made for Craft Quarters, the next two photos are of the bag that I made for myself, or maybe a christmas pressie. I did it all on the machine. The applique is machine stitched as well. My second time trying that. I am very happy with the outcome.

Christmas Tree Skirt

I Have sent off the parcel to my lovely daughter in law and she was suitably impressed with the contents so now I can put up a photo.
This pattern is out of APQ and is mostly done per the pattern, I really did not like the reindeer that was in the pattern, so I deleted him and made the bell instead.

another Bag

I have just completed my second bag for Craft Quarters

This is a lovely bag I made for Craft Quarters The bag is made with charm squares. Looks great. It has two Zippers (these are not my favourite thing to put in)

Aprons

These two aprons I found in my local vinnies store, I would like to find a new home for them, so I will give them away to whomever wants them the most. They will go to two seperate people.







And this is my Granddaughters apron for her school work. I made it double sided.

Nearly Done

My lovely granddaughters are all getting the same outfit for Christmas

I loved the shopping bag I did for a swap so much I decided to make some more, this is the first, it too will go to someone for Christmas.

More

On top of all that I have been knitting more socks, and more socks, I will not put up any pictures of them, because they are only socks. I have finished with those for the time being and have now started on a pair of Norwegian House slippers, one is done and it is huge, the other is half way, these need to be felted once they are both done. I have never tried this before.

This is a lap quilt that is also waiting for quilting, it cost me a whole $2, I found the fabric at Vinnies, I does have a couple more borders, but I dont seem to have taken a photo of it with those on.

This one was thrust upon me, not my choice of colour or fabric, But it turned out well, was made for a cousin.

Knitting

I have become on of those people that cannot sit in front of theTV with out doing something, usually it is applique, it used to be cross stitch, but my house is full of pictures so that sort of went out the window. Or I got sick of it.
Just lately I have been knitting, I started out with the soul slippers, made five pairs of those, then decided that I needed something better than that to do so found myself a nice pattern on the net for socks. I am now up to the fifth pair.
I had to model them myself, because for once there was no one here to do the photo taking, so I stuck my feet up against the back door and off I went.
I also made three matching beanies for my grand daughters in Tasmania, but was so anxious that they got them while it was still cold I forgot to take a photo.
