Knitting

I have become on of those people that cannot sit in front of theTV with out doing something, usually it is applique, it used to be cross stitch, but my house is full of pictures so that sort of went out the window. Or I got sick of it.
Just lately I have been knitting, I started out with the soul slippers, made five pairs of those, then decided that I needed something better than that to do so found myself a nice pattern on the net for socks. I am now up to the fifth pair.
I had to model them myself, because for once there was no one here to do the photo taking, so I stuck my feet up against the back door and off I went.
I also made three matching beanies for my grand daughters in Tasmania, but was so anxious that they got them while it was still cold I forgot to take a photo.

Those Blue scraps

For what seems like years, but is only really a few months, I have been trying to reduce the amount of blue scraps that I have accumulated. I have a plastic box with a lid that I could no longer get the lid to fit except by basically sitting on it. So I decided it had to be reduced. Now I am very much a hoarder, always think that if I throw it out or give it away I will need it. So this is what I have come up with, it still needs one more plain border (maybe two) I want to make it into a doona cover for my bed.
If my adding up is correct there are a total of 136 blue squares made from the scraps. Eleven borders so far and the turning in the centre. I made it up as I went along.
The centre is sixteen 4 1/2 inch squares. All the rest are 5 inch, except for four in 3rd border which I had to make bigger to make them fit.
By the way the lid now goes down on the box easily, but it is still full.

Blue update

So far I have 16 squares at 4 1/2 inches and four at 5 inches. My plan is to use the 16 as a centre with sashing and go from there. The reason I have two different sizes is............the calico I have used in the back was all different sizes, all scraps too. Now to me that seems perfectly OK. I will get back with what comes next, atm I don't know.

The Watcher

I had a visitor while I was chopping fire wood, he flexed his muscles and did not even offer to help. He is not tame, we live on the edge of the National Park, and outside our back yard is vacant land, they come a graze there, he is just a big old man Roo and bolder than the younger ones.

I know what I am doing, I think !!!!!

My son and husband don't think I know what I am doing, but I do (really) This is my blue box, all my blue scraps end up in here. I am making it smaller, the lid wont fit on any more.

A lovely lady, Terri, on my craft forum kindly sent me the pattern for a Snug seat, I have made two for the twins. I did not have a baby to try it with so I just used a pillow. If anyone would like one of these just contact me via this blog, and I will give you Terri's email address, she makes these seat on order.

Knitting

Just lately I have been knitting, I have made a few pairs of slippers, and a scarf, easy, so I decided I would attempt a pair of socks. So I found myself a pattern for a lovely simple pair of socks. My printer is totally out of ink so I had wrote it out, went for the knitting needles and this is what happen. There was such a mess of needles that I did not know where to start, so I found a lovely pattern for a knitting needle case, only took a couple of hours from deciding to make it to finishing it.

I have been asked for the site where I got the needle case instructions, click here, and scroll down to September 7, 2007 and the Knitting Needle Case Tutorial. I actually made mine bigger, I used the full length of a fat quarter.

Mothers Day,

I have been working on a quilt for quite a while for my mum for mothers day, I made it with one day to spare. the Top Photo is what my lovely daughter made for me, it has a bag in it that you put in the microwave to heat or in the fridge to cool.
The bottom photo is the quilt my mum got, it has not got a name but it is rainbow coloured so maybe "Fractured Rainbow"

Seeing Double once again,

I have finally finished the quilts for the twins, took forever to do two. They are the same, but not identical.

What I have done over the long weekend.

A while ago while I was blogging I came across a blog (unfortunately I can't remember whose it was) with a quilt for kids on it. This is an orgainisation in the states that supplies fabric to quilters to make up for children in hospital that are there for long periods. I sent them an email and because I am in Australia they would not send the fabric to me. So........ I got onto my other lovely daughter who is living in the states at the moment and she got the fabric sent to her and then sent it on to me. Last week I got an enormous parcel in the mail. (I am still happy dancing about it). In it was the fabric for the quilt plus lots more.
